Problem Note 68669: The $ character is not supported in the name of the high-level qualifier (HLQ) during a z/OS installation

DetailsAboutRate It

Currently, if a dollar sign ($) character is used in the name of the HLQ when you are installing SAS® software on a z/OS system, the INSTAL3 job fails with a message that is similar to the following:

Unable to create XXXXXX.XXXXXX.INSTALL.CNTL(RENEWPRM)
cp: FSUM6258 cannot open file "//'XXXXXX.XXXXXX.INSTALL.CNTL'": EDC5049I The specified file name could not be located.
cp: FSUMF138 partitioned data set "//XXXXXX.XXXXXX.INSTALL.CNTL'" must exist

In addition to INSTAL3 failing, the INSTAL10 and INSTAL12 jobs also contain incorrect information.

A fix for this issue is planned for a future software release.

If your site mandates the need to use a $ character in the HLQ name during your installation, contact SAS Technical Support.
